WOW! Moments: A Passion for Painting
Pine Rock Manor
resident, Betty Normandeau, often told stories of her love for arts and crafts.
Before her residency at Pine Rock Manor, she spent much of her time decorating
her walls with beautiful stencil paintings. Betty’s hobby for stenciling was a
creative outlet that she missed dearly. The staff noticed how much stenciling
meant to Betty and quickly brainstormed what could be done to help her express
her creative ability while living Pine Rock Manor.
The staff and
management collectively decided to create an opportunity for Betty to share her
artistic talent with the rest of the community. Betty was ecstatic when she was
presented with the opportunity to do some wall stenciling in the community’s activity
room. Betty and activities director, Tina Davis, went shopping for supplies.
Betty knew exactly what she was looking for. She effortlessly navigated the aisles
of the craft store and collected a plethora of supplies. With brushes, paints,
and stencils in hand, Betty was eager to start her project.
Tina and Betty agreed
the stencil would be the perfect decorative addition to the wall above the
activity room’s sliding door. The designated area required a step ladder to get
the work done. With no difficulty, Betty climbed right up and began her work.
When all was said and done, Betty was very pleased with how well her stencil turned
out. Many of the residents often compliment Betty on how great it looks. We are
so happy that we are able to help make WOW! Moments like these!
